This lectures explores the way artists manipulate colour, form, composition and subject-matter (even facts!) in order to explore universal themes such as life, death, feelings, politics, and to engage our emotional participation in the work.

Profile
Valerie is a lecturer and guide at Tate Britain and Tate Modern, and many other London Galleries, together with the National Trust and other organisations. She was a member of the teaching team at the Dulwich Picture Gallery. She is also a script-writer for the Living Paintings Trust, which brings art to the blind and partially-sighted. She is a lecturer to NADFAS throughout Britain, and to related organisations in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
