Stonehenge is unique, a national treasure and a global icon. In this talk Julian Richards will examine its architecture, the production of stone tools, and the beliefs that may have driven its development. Perceptions and understanding of Stonehenge have changed, while it has constantly has inspired worshippers, writers and musicians. He will also take a light-hearted look at some of the stranger souvenirs it has inspired.

Julian Richards is an archaeologist , who has worked for English Heritage, the BBC and independently. He was involved in researching and presenting Meet the Ancestors and Blood of the Vikings. His own extensive collection of “Stonehengiana” is currently on display at the new Stonehenge Visitor Centre
